Vice Admiral Hideaki Kaneda, JMSDF (ret.), is a director for the Okazaki Institute and an adjunct fellow of the Japan Institute of International Affairs. He was a senior fellow in the Asia Center at Harvard University and a guest professor in the Faculty of Policy Management at Keio University. He served in the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force from 1968 to 1999.
