President Xi Jinping arrived in Seattle today for the first leg of a week-long trip to the United States. The Chinese president will visit Washington, DC, on September 24-25 for meetings with President Barack Obama, congressional leaders, and others before proceeding to New York, where he will address the United Nations on September 28.

On last week’s CogitAsia Podcast, CSIS Freeman Chair in China Studies Christopher Johnson looked ahead to President Xi’s visit and the state of U.S.-China relations, including how thorny issues like the South China Sea disputes and cybersecurity will be tackled. The full podcast is available on CogitAsia and iTunes.
